Happy August! Happy Football Season!

Can we take a minute to freak out and wonder where this year has gone?
It's August. Whoa.
 I almost have a 6 month old.
Whoa.

But, it's August! Yay!
Because I know that August is still technically summer, but for me it signals the beginning of fall.

& Fall means Football season!

Some of our friends got us cute Georgia outfits for Ryleigh at our baby shower, and she's sadly starting to outgrow them!  She's a little too small to fit into her Georgia cheerleader outfit, so I found this cute onesie set through Target online:

I can't wait for them to arrive!  We've already started sizing up to 6-9 month onesies for a little extra length [baby girl's a stringbean!] so I'm hoping these last her through October/November when long sleeves will be needed anyway.

The red ones will pair pretty adorably with the UGA headbow I made her

36 Weeks!

How far along?  36 weeks, 2 days

Total weight gain/loss: +26.5 lbs  (last week)<--My 36 week appt. got cancelled due to the snow, so we will have to wait and see next week!

Maternity clothes? Yes.

Sleep: pretty much the same.
Best baby moment this week:  taking some impromptu snow belly pictures!  Had to document the prego snowstorm!

Have you told family and friends: Yes

Miss Anything?  Sleeping through the night.  Moving quickly.

Movement: Still strong!  Some days she's more mobile than others, but when she moves she really moves!

Food cravings: Cinnamon Applesauce!  And SpaghettiO's...not together, I promise.

Anything making you queasy or sickNot really

Have you started to show yetof course, getting pretty large & in charge!

Gender: girl :)

Labor Signs: Some Braxton Hicks contractions...feeling some slight pressure and my hip joints have started popping, so definitely seeing signs of my body preparing.

Belly Button in or out?  I'd go with just pretty flat.  Still an innie, but extremely shallow.

Wedding rings on or off? On, but some days it's a little snug.

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy/tired.

Looking forward to:  Maternity pictures on Saturday and Superbowl Sunday!  Going to be a fun weekend :)

Go Dawgs!

Ahh, football season has finally begun!  We are going big for the UGA vs. Clemson game this weekend.

A couple friends came over last night to help me whip up some of our tailgating munchies.  So far on the list:

  • Buffalo Chicken dip [tripled the recipe!] going to be in the crock pot
  • Macaroni Salad
  • Vanilla Chip Rice Crispy Treats
  • Chocolate Chip cookies [homemade, the only way to go...]
  • Peanut Butter Brownie Bites
  • Red Pepper Jelly & Cream Cheese dip
  • Chips & Pretzels [ok, so we didn't make these]
Others are also bringing a fruit tray and some 7 Layer Taco Dip, yum!  I am so looking forward to the food this weekend.  I am so NOT looking forward to the fact that it's going to be 87 degrees all day.  At least we will have an industrial fan and several tents to hopefully cool off under (I told you, we're doing it big!).  I'm halfway considering getting water balloons. Too much?

Christmas in July..

Anyone else getting really excited for the upcoming Fall and Winter holidays?

I feel like this happens to me almost every year once the 4th of July passes.  We're halfway through the Summer season but I'm already getting over it and ready for Fall...Football season, pumpkin spice, cider, scarves, cozy sweaters, boots, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping, buying Christmas presents....it goes on and on.  My favorite time of the year!

Decorating and holiday parties and baking cookies....Anyone else as excited as me?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We put our tree up last weekend and today I finally made my bow for the topper...I went to the after Christmas sales last year and bought a pretty star topper but our new pre-lit tree is too tall to use it :( so that went back into the decoration box for use in the future.  I figured a bow would look cute and I found some awesome ribbon at Hobby Lobby.

The Christmas ribbon was on sale 50% off at Hobby Lobby so I got a 30ft roll of 3" wide ribbon for only $4.99!  I already had some craft wire at home...and, voila!

I used the entire roll of ribbon and I think it came out a great size.  I might try to get more ribbon and put some bows like this on our trees outside of the dining room window.  Here is the tutorial that I followed:  Bow Tutorial

I was surprised at how quick and easy it was.  It's great to know how to do it because they charge you $10 plus the price of the ribbon at a lot of places to have one made.

Next step:  outdoor decorations!

Well, our bulldogs lost yesterday but what a game!  I'm just so proud that they actually showed up and that was one heck of a game to watch.  We had a bunch of friends over to watch it and had a great time with lots of great food.  It was quite the little spread, this picture is from before a few more trays of sweets:

The crock pots were Buffalo Chicken Dip and Velveeta Sausage dip.  Yum!

Back to December...

Yes, that was a T.Swift reference!

DECEMBER, can you believe it?! Where has the time gone?  This year has seriously flown by.  I am excited for the holidays and for everything that we have to look forward to next year, but is this really how time moves when you're an adult?  I've always heard people say that the older you are the quicker time goes, but if this is the rate it's moving at in my twenties then I have no idea how it will speed up!

Looking forward to going here tomorrow morning with my Momma!  A Christmas tradition that we have had for the past few years and one that I'm very happy to continue :)

and after that....

Let's just say that there will be a pretty intense viewing of this at our house tomorrow at 4pm...Stop by for some entertainment and yummy food!

Davis Jaye, the creator of this cartoon, had these words to say:

“I think that, right now, expecting a non-SEC team to win the National Championship is like expecting the sun to start rising somewhere other than the East. It’s probably not going to happen.”
“The SEC teams want to kill each other during the regular season, but when it comes to Bowl Games, they rally around each other like no other conference.”

October!

Oh, October.... <3

The prettiest month of the year, in my opinion, and a month of such fun things! What's coming up this month for us?
 -My Daddy's 50th birthday (tomorrow)-
 -6 years together (10/13)-
 -My birthday (10/20)-
-Halloween fun-
-Pumpkins-
-Pretty leaves-
-Scarves-
-Football and football tailgates-
-Haunted houses-
-Spice-scented candles-
-Caramel Apples-
-Apple Cider-
-Friend's birthdays-

...and at the end of the month, my LASIK eye surgery consultation!  I'm a little bit nervous but so excited for how much it could impact my everyday routine.  Little things that people don't even think of, like having to search for my glasses before I take the dogs downstairs to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, or not being able to snuggle while watching a movie at night because I don't want to fall asleep in my contacts and don't want to bend/break my glasses.  Being able to open my eyes under water at the pool or the lake because I won't need to worry about losing a contact lens.  It will probably make me get ready at least 10 minutes quicker because I will be able to actually see what I'm doing.  I can only image how helpful it would be once we have kids and I'm waking up at all hours of the night and needing to get ready quickly in the mornings.  Not to mention all of the money it will save over time, since I won't be shelling out $350 a year on contacts and saline solution for the rest of my life.  As long as the consult goes well, my surgery should be the morning of November 2nd at TLC in Charlotte!!

And in closing, here are some shots from the boat this weekend...We went out with my friends Karen and Shanti, and Shanti's family.  Their little girl Reina is seriously the cutest ever:

Thought for the Day...

I really need to get better with keeping up with this blog!

I saw this on facebook this morning, and thought it would be good to share:

Me: God, can I ask you a question?
God: Sure
Me: Promise u won’t get mad …... …
God: I promise…
Me: Why did u let so much stuff happen to me today?
God: What do u mean?
Me: Well, I woke up late
God: Yes
Me: My car took forever to start
God: Okay
Me: at lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait
God:Huummm
Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call
God: All right
Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home ~I just want to soak my feet in my new foot massager & relax. BUT it wouldn’t work!!! Nothing went right today! Why did you do that?
God: Let me see, the Death Angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of the other angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that
Me (humbled): OH
GOD: I didn’t let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.
Me: (ashamed)
God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn’t want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn’t afford to miss work.
Me (embarrassed):Ok
God: Your phone went dead bcuz the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn’t even let you talk to them so you would be covered.
Me (softly): I see God
God: Oh and that foot massager, it had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn’t think you wanted to be in the dark.
Me: I’m sorry God
God: Don’t be sorry, just learn to trust me…..in all things , the good & the bad.
Me: I will trust you
God: And don’t doubt that my plan for your day is always better than your plan.
Me: I won’t God. And let me just tell you God, thank you for everything today.
God: You’re welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I love looking after my children…

Yes, it is a little dramatic, but so true how everything happens for a reason.

And to update on our lives lately...We had a wonderful Superbowl party again this year and it is always so much fun. I had all intentions of taking some pictures of everyone and all of our amazing food (bacon wrapped chicken bites in brown sugar & honey sauce, spicy mexican layer dip, veggies & french onion dip, Velveeta sausage dip, buffalo chicken dip, pepperoni pizza dip, spicy smoked ribs, and football cake pops). We are very blessed to have our home that can fit a good number of people. Speaking of our home--can you believe we have been there for over a year now?! We moved in on January 20th 2011. Time flies! We love our home so much, and it is really fun to see how it is slowly but surely transforming as we continue to decorate and remodel.

And lastly, Jake got our Xbox Live account fixed, so we were finally able to set up the Kinect system that I got him for his birthday. Let me tell you, it is very fun and a very good work out! I have even been going to the gym lately and my legs are still killing me because we were so excited to have it hooked up we played it for about 2 hours. So far we have only played the Adventures game, which I highly recommend. We also have two game vouchers for Fruit Ninja and another game so we will be trying out those soon, too.

That's all for now...have a nice day!

Okay, Finally an Update!

Soo much to update on, where to begin.....

Sunday School:
I can't remember if I ever wrote about how Jake and I teach the 3-4yr old Sunday school class at our church, but we do. We started in August, and the kids are so sweet. They are so innocent and happy. We have really been enjoying it.

Mom & Dad's 30th Anniversary Trip:
We are sending my parents to CAPE COD! It is somewhere that we always remembered them wanting to visit but have never had the chance. I can't wait for them to be able to take the trip, for the big honeymoon trip that they were never able to take 30 years ago. I don't think they will ever quite know how much I admire them, and the way that they have been such a testament to their vows. They definitely deserve this :) They are staying at a very cute B&B in the mid-cape, the Captain Kelley House.

Kitchen Remodel:
I am hoping to go in the morning to finalize our cabinet choice for the kitchen. I am really hoping that these are the solution we have been looking for, because I would hate to have to go back to square 1. Once I have the cabinets chosen and a door sample, I need to visit the slab yard to choose our granite counters. I am excited that we are getting closer! We didn't think that we would be able to have it done before Thanksgiving, but the cabinets do not have a long lead time so it may be able to happen after all!

Work:
I GOT A NEW JOB!! I am so excited about all of the new possibilities and having a much more normal schedule. I am really looking forward to the change of pace, not working Saturdays, attending industry events and networking, and getting back into Commercial. I can't wait to start in a couple of weeks.

Fall Plans:
With my weekends opening up, I am packing my schedule full! I can't wait for haunted houses, Halloween, visiting friends, Winthrop Homecoming, going to a Georgia game, Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping, the Lady Antebellum concert, etc!

That is all for now, goodnight!

Working for the Weekend

Gotta love classic rock...unfortunately unlike many others, I do have to work on this holiday weekend.  However, I am looking forward to next weekend when I have Saturday off.  We are going to Charleston to see my aunt who is going back to India, where she lives doing mission work.  She was back here for the summer to take some classes, which was great because she was able to be at my wedding!

Next Sunday will also be fun because I am headed to Florence for a friends baby shower.  I have not been to Florence in SUCH a long time.  Probably 4 years, from what I can remember.  It will be so nice to see the town and how it has grown.  My mom and I are going up early to have lunch at Redbone Alley, one of my favorite restaurants.   On Sunday we are also revealing the location of my parents' 30th anniversary trip, so it will be an exciting weekend!

Also, I felt the urge to do something crafty today.  I was out window shopping in Pier 1, and all of the fall holiday stuff was out and so cute!!  If only Pier 1 wasn't so expensive, I would have bought everything!  Instead, I left with a $6 purchase of handsoap with a cute Autumn scent for our powder room :) I went next door to Michael's craft store and decided to make my own decorations.  While looking at all of the Fall items, I was starting to worry that something in the typical Orange and golden tones would be misunderstood for some SITG of Clemson decoration from far away.  Well, if you know my husband you know that this would definitely not be acceptable.  So, while brainstorming I thought about the excitement of this weekend, and decided to make a college football wreath.  Here is the final product, Go Dawgs!!
